Reporting
Immediate notice of all accidents, sicknesses, injuries and/or deaths must be given to your Agent or nominated specialist adjuster.
Animal Loss Procedures
DO
- Report the loss immediately to your agent or nominated specialist adjuster.
- Make arrangements for a necropsy.
- Call the Police in case of theft, shooting, or vehicular involvement.
DON'T
- Have the animal destroyed without consent of Markel Insurance Company, unless a licensed veterinarian certifies that the suffering was incurable and so excessive that immediate destruction was needed for humane reasons.
- Have the animal removed before the necropsy is performed.
- Neglect to file a police report if needed.
Caution
Please call these procedures to the attention of anyone having care, custody and control of the insured animal. Failure to comply may jeopardize your coverage.
